Review: Ant Esports GM270W | Gaming mouse review

Hello and welcome! In this post, I'll review the GM270W gaming mouse by Ant Esports.

Ant Esports is one of the best brands for gaming accessories in the newly booming gaming industry of India. Some of their peripherals include but are not limited to mice, keyboards, controllers, headset, mousepad, glasses and more. Their more notable products are gaming chairs and CPU cabinets. Today I'll be reviewing the mouse as mentioned above. Ant Esports are in a marketing collaboration with World of Warships™ so much of the product has artwork relating to it.

I got this one off amazon for INR.  449. The GM270W was listed along with 5 other models, ranging from INR. 349 to 1149.

First Thoughts

The image above is taken from amazon and it does not do justice to our product here. For starters, the actual mouse is much bigger and slimmer than what appears in the photo. Also, just looking at the photo I did not realize it had multicolour LED lighting until I read the description. So my advice is to not believe the photos alone.

Upon receiving the product this is what I got...

The Unboxing

After removing the standard amazon packaging, there was a Cyan box with black foregroud. On the foreground was artwork relating to World of Warships™ and above the artwork is an image of the mouse in smooth finishing. The box itself is made of thin cardboard with a rear hanging sleeve. The sides and back had regular textual and features information.

Opening the box, there was
  • the mouse in polystyrene fabric wrapping
  • a warranty card
  • Ant Esports Information card with a note from the director of sales and marketing
  • World of Warships scan and redeem QR code voucher worth INR. 1000.

The Mouse

As mentioned earlier the mouse was much bigger than what I thought it to be.

Highlights:

  • Rubber coated surface
  • Multicolour LED lights
  • Two separate buttons for changing DPI
  • Braided cable
  • Simple, sleek design
  • No over the top jacking of the hard body
  • Comfortable hand resting experience
  • Perfectly pressured button clicks
  • Elegant palm profile
  • World of Warships badging artwork

Usage:

One of the things I like the most about this mouse is that it's will covered. Meaning, there are many places for dust to get inside except for below the buttons. This will make cleaning a lot more easier when the time comes. My problem with my previous mouse was that the side buttons were very unsupported. So after one year of use the front button just gave up and went inside the mouse. This does not seem to be the case with our star mouse here as the side buttons are chunky and well springy. The DPI buttons for increasing and decreasing are a new feature for me to be used to, because my earlier mouse only had one button.

All except the DPI buttons are programmable, bringing the number to 7 buttons. This mouse is equipped wit a red sensor, differing from my previous mouse which had a blue sensor. The USB connector is regular, unlike my previous mouse with a gold plated connector.  The multicolour LED lights on this are not programmable using an app so the lights are forever on a breathing cycle. The cable is appropriately long to be able to wrap around a 15.6 inch monitor laptop. A mousepad is required to function properly but it works just fine on a bare polished wooden table. The design is quite aerodynamic which does not matter in a mouse but the design contributes to proper weight distribution with most of the weight in the back. The intelligent weight distribution makes maneuvering in games like Minecraft very easy and lightweight front side makes for a better FPS experience. The front and back foot on the base make it slide on a polished wooden table with ease

After 15 days of use:

After playing skill and movement demanding games such as GTA online and CS:GO, I found the sensitivity feature to be the most useful. I use a higher sensitivity while driving and movement and lower sensitivity in menus. The WoW artwork is still intact. No matter how many times I click rapidly the mouse hasn't broken yet so that's a big plus. Works better with a mousepad.
